My Story

Service minded from the start. I’ve been a committed public steward and public servant for most of my life. This has often interwoven with my love for the environment. It started early in elementary school when I volunteered with litter clean up, and household hazardous waste collection days. My passion for laws and policies began in high school when I followed a bill regulating pesticide application in K-12 schools through the legislature. From that experience I learned how easy it is to request bill information, and how much elected officials want to hear from those impacted by their decisions.

Academics and application. In college I bridged my interests in the environment and policy work through biology and philosophy courses. While initially interested in medicine, I pivoted when I learned more about ecology and land management. That led me to post-collegiate AmeriCorps service in Washington State with the Washington Conversation Corps. I learned local botany, invasive species mitigation, and erosion prevention among other habitat conservation practices. From there I found a career in state government. The next 10 plus years were dedicated to implementing environmental regulations from oil vessels and refineries, to gas stations, solid waste, and then water quality. Currently I manage a trade group skilled in energy efficient projects.

Finding my values in Vermont. My passion for the environment and policy work brought me to Vermont in 2009 to complete my Masters in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law and Graduate School. I’ve carried that drive through my career, and continue to give back through service to the Winooski Community. In 2017 I became a Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) Commissioner appointed by the City Council, and was elected by my peers to serve as Board Chair in 2020. Since 2018, I’ve also been serving on the Board of Directors for Green Up Vermont. My commitment to public service, the environment, and the crossroads with policy has never waned. As a Vermont Certified Public Manager (VCPM), and Vermont Leadership Institute (VLI) graduate I’m here to serve.

Here for Winooski. Following a successful 2021 Council write-in campaign I was appointed to the Municipal Infrastructure Commission. Through this work I elevated concerns over line striping and the desperate need to allocate funds to ensure our community is safe, healthy, and connected and is meeting the walkable/bikeable goals of the Winooski Master Plan. This past year I voted to approve a Traffic Calming Plan, facilitated a City resolution to recognize Energy Efficiency Day, and voted to accept a $24.8 million federal grant to replace the Winooski bridge. Each of these rolls up to goals in the Master Plan.

Be sure to vote March 4th, 2025! There is much more to be done. It will be an honor to have your vote to continue to serve as your Winooski City Councilor. Thank you for your support.
